Rifff Hopping is a fun, easy way to capture a longer sequence of Rifffs from a jam directly by playing through Rifffs as you capture to video. It's a great way to show off the development of a section in a jam or even to capture a performance of a whole "track". Here's how to do it:
First you need to have screen capturing enabled on your iOS control center:
In the jam, tap on the small arrow at the right of the screen (see image below) to get to the journal of the current jam and find the Rifff you want to start with.
Swipe down your control centre and start recording, then start playing through your Rifff-hopping sequence, jumping from one Rifff to another, while keeping in time with the rhythm. When you're done playing through your sequence, just swipe down again and stop the screen recording. It will go to your devices photo library.
Pro tips:
- You get much better Rifff-hopping results if you quickly play through the rifffs that you intend to capture, BEFORE you start recording. This will ensure all Rifffs and layers have fully loaded beforehand.
- Depending on the measure and tempo of the jam, its sometimes a smoother Rifff-hop if you jump to the next Rifff with an early offset.
- You can edit your video on your iOS device straight from the photo library, and not only trim the length but also crop the size to a square that frames the Rifff splash, as many like to do :ok_hand: It also decreases the file size so it's easier to share.
Remember to keep Terms & Conditions in mind and ask for permission when other jammers are involved. Have Fun!
