Using the Audio-In device you can capture external audio from a built-in microphone, audio interface or virtual audio devices. In plugin mode, the audio comes from your DAW. The input can be either mono or stereo.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

In Standalone mode

Allow microphone

On first startup you will be asked to allow Endlesss to access your microphone. If you missed this the first time or want to double check you did, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Microphone and make sure Endlesss is checked in that list.

Select the input device

Click on the settings icon in the top right. Under Input select the device you want to capture from.

Select input channels

Depending on the audio device, the list of input channels below will update. Here you can check either 1 or 2 channels to use as the audio-in signal.

If only 1 channel is selected, it is treated as mono and will be replicated both on the left and right channel.

If 2 channels are selected they are treated as the left and right channel respectively.

only the first 2 checked channels in the list will be used. Any other checked channels are ignored

Sample rate & buffer size

Make sure the sample rate matches that of your audio device to get reliable playback.

Tweak the audio buffer size to your performance needs.
The lower the buffer size the less latency there is between playing something in and hearing it back through monitoring. This however puts more pressure on your CPU so how low you can go is limited by your hardware. If you start hearing audible pops, crackles and dropouts you should increase the buffer size slightly until things get more stable.

The higher the buffer size the more latency there is, but in turn you might get a more stable performance on a weaker CPU.

In plugin mode

The above settings aren't available in plugin mode, because the host DAW will take care of interfacing with your audio device.

To support being able to input MIDI directly from your DAW and to also support the External Input Device with Audio input, the Endlesss Studio plug-in is an Instrument plug-in with an Audio Side-chain input. To use Audio-In, you need to route audio within your DAW directly into the plugin.

Read the appropriate guide for your DAW to learn how to do this:

The Audio-In signal in plugin mode is always Stereo.
